August is National Wellness Month, a nationwide initiative designed to inspire holistic self-care and community engagement. We want to encourage our members to shine a spotlight on women’s health and wellbeing starting this month.
This month, the NFBPWC Health Committee encourages state federations, clubs, and affiliates to host activities that promote physical, mental, and emotional wellness.
The initiative’s foundation rests on six key pillars:
each representing an essential dimension of a woman’s overall wellbeing.
According to the initiative’s website, “Women’s wellness is not one-dimensional, it’s about balance, nurturing the body, mind, and spirit, while building supportive networks that strengthen our communities.”
Throughout August, members are invited to organize events such as wellness fairs, mindfulness workshops, walking challenges, and financial literacy sessions.
Each activity reinforces the month’s purpose: empowering women to adopt sustainable habits that enhance their quality of life.
National Wellness Month reflects NFBPWC’s enduring commitment to women’s advancement, not only in professional spaces but in every aspect of life.
As the 2026–2028 Chair of the Health Committee, I am honored to continue serving a federation that has shaped my life for more than 40 years.
In that time, every role, local, state, and national, has reinforced my belief in the power of women supporting women.
From my early days in BPW Barbados to leadership roles across Louisiana and NFBPWC, I have witnessed firsthand how our collective strength transforms lives and communities.
National Wellness Month and Women’s Equality Day remind us that our mission is both personal and powerful.
When we invest in women’s health, we invest in women’s leadership.
When we honor equality, we honor every woman’s right to live fully, safely, and with opportunity.
Let us build a future that is healthier together, a future that is stronger, and more equal for all women, everywhere.
Equal Participation of Women and Men in Power and Decision-Making Roles.
