Monday May 31 is Memorial Day, a holiday honoring the men and women who have died while serving in the US Armed Forces. It was declared a federal holiday in 1966 and each year a national moment of remembrance (silence) takes place at 3:00 pm local time. The poppy flower is used to remember those soldiers who died because they are the flowers that grew on the battlefields after World War 1.
If you are able, please wear a red poppy to the event. We are asking that you please come with stories of people you knew, or know of, who served our country and paid the ultimate price. We also ask that you consider the following questions:
1. What did you learn in school about Memorial Day?
2. How do you usually spend your Memorial Day?
3. How do you plan on spending this Memorial Day?
Please take a moment to download Zoom to your smartphone, computer, or tablet: https://zoom.us and check to make sure you can connect. Come as you are and when you can - even if it's only for 5 minutes.
Zoom details will be sent prior to the event after registration.
