Driving Our Connections: A Workshop on Identity and Intersectionality

This interactive workshop seeks to provide a broad but important overview on identity and intersectionality while building a shared vocabulary.  Through an introspective and unique exercise, participants will explore their own identities and walk away with a deeper understanding of how our unique backgrounds impact our social circles along with our personal and professional lives.

Speaker: Monica Monroe

About Monica E. Monroe:

Monica E. Monroe is currently the Associate Dean for Equity and Inclusion at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School (Penn Law). Prior to this role, Monica clerked and was a litigator in private practice for six years.  She began working in higher education in 2004 teaching legal research and writing as well as legal drafting. Monica also served as Dean of Students both at her alma mater, The George Washington University Law School (GW Law), and Penn Law.  Monica is a former member of the Executive Committee of The GW Law Alumni Board of Directors, past President of the GW Law Black Law Alumni Association, and the 2018 recipient of the GW Law School Distinguished Alumni Award. 
 
In her spare time, Monica enjoys being a Brand Partner with Young Living Essential Oils and navigating life with her two sons Miles (9) and Mason (7) in Wyncote, PA.

Monica Monroe is also a member of the NFBPWC Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
